Not In The Past

Looking forward from 30

International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day.  I think it’s important to take time today to acknowledge the many victories women have been able to achieve for their rights, especially in the last century, and also to reflect on just how far they have to go.  The current political climate in the States is still so bad that a woman can get branded a “slut” merely for testifying on behalf of a friend whose use of birth control is for medical reasons only.  Too many people think a woman “asks” to be raped by dressing provocatively, as if that somehow excuses the man from any of his responsibility for his actions.

This has to stop.

I leave you with a statement from one of my favorite Members of Parliament, Megan Leslie.  Sums it up pretty nicely.
